Google is developing three new weather widgets for the Android app. This information was obtained by examining the .apk codes of the app’s latest beta version. The new widgets aim to provide users with a broader range of weather information in addition to the existing two options.
Visual innovations with 3 new widgets…
Currently, the Google app has two weather widgets: a 3×2 widget showing the current weather and a 4×2 widget showing hourly forecasts. Both can be resized, but their content and shapes change when resized.
The three new widgets discovered in the beta version include:
- A square-shaped 2×2 widget.
- A 4×2 widget presenting the daily hourly forecast.
- An extended 4×3 widget containing the forecast for the next few days.
Although these widgets appear to be almost ready for release, it is possible that Google may continue to develop them further, delay the launch, or cancel them entirely. There is even the possibility of developing additional widgets, such as an extended weekly forecast.
These new widgets are not yet publicly available, but their discovery in the beta version already indicates that Google has been working on these features for a long time. If everything goes well, in the new period, you won’t need a third-party app to add a Weather widget or perform any other weather-related actions.
